Being that we are so small we haven't had to deal with Quarantine until recently. Now that we have several rabbits it is much more important to keep them safe. We recently brought home our sweet Fibonacci. He came from a reputable breeder. The last one we got from him settled in just fine. However we are following and at the same time establishing protocol for our rabbitry. And I must add... I don't like it! He is the cutest little guy and while I am visiting and snuggling all my other bunnies he is off in the distance listening and waiting. I have to remind myself they aren't like humans, but I know my other buns get jealous as I am giving out attention so I am sure he must feel left out.
I have isolated a container of food and water and hay into Fibs area. By doing this I make sure that nothing comes into contact with the area of my other buns. I also have a sweater that I make sure to wear when I am petting him and playing with him. And last but not least, I make sure to wash thoroughly after each interaction with him. I look forward to when I can put him over with the rest of the crew. However he has only passed his one week mark. For our rabbitry I have chosen to keep Quarantine for 1 month. Hopefully this protocol will be successful for our happy little rabbitry. Ava gave birth to 5 healthy kits this morning. 2 of them were peanuts and the other 3 are nice healthy solid torts. She had them before I woke up and was calm and happy as could be to see me this morning. I rewarded her with a nice Bok Choy leaf and she was even happier! Our little ones are now 3 weeks old. Time has flown with these guys. They are hoping all over and poor little Nixie never gets a break. Funny how 2 little babies can chase her all over that cage. She is always so relieved when I take them out for a bit. Our little nubbins is quite a cute bun and full of love and kisses. He appears to be very compact and darling and so far would be my favorite of the two, if it weren't for the missing ear. Our other little doe is full of energy and it's very hard to get her to sit still for photos.
We have chosen to add a new member to our herd. We would like to introduce you to TF Fibonacci. He comes from strong DTL and Taylor lines. We are so excited to have him at our rabbitry.
