I have learned a couple of things this week. Don't put too much straw in your nest box. And don't underestimate the escape tactics of a blind hairless kit. And lastly, kits apparently have super hero DNA and are able to fall from a 3 story condo and survive unscathed. How did I learn all of this? Well, while doing my morning check I realized I only had 2 kits. I was going insane trying to figure out where number 3 was. I didn't think mom would have eaten it, she has been so good to them. So I kept searching. Poor guy managed to get out of the nest box, and wiggle through the cage wires and onto our concrete garage floor. I was convinced the poor thing would die but it seemed unharmed in anyway. Later I read up and learned that they do have some strange ability to bounce and survive falls. Phew. Lesson learned. Cages revamped, nest box revamped. No more escapees this week.
